Jake, Sent Straight From Heaven

This doggo that stole my heart, makes me want to run away and just have fantastic adventures on the road. He is an overly good boy all week… and bless his heart, he has long days alone. Yet, he greets me with sleepy smiles and wags. Usually with a toy in his mouth, every time I come through the door.

Our mutual love of the outdoors, means weekends involve something fun and over the past several weekends, we’ve taken some great hiking journeys and he continues to impress with how well he is behaved. Most settings are something he can adapt to, given a minute or sometimes a firm command.

This page was originally meant to chronicle our adventures and I did. He even inspired numerous devotions, that some day I’ll publish. He was Clyde, then adopted to the name Blazer. When he became fully mine, we shortened to Blaze.  #theamazingblaze actually, but it never felt right because he had such an aloof and slow stroll normally. So, The Dog Formerly Known as Blaze, became Jake. So perfectly suited to him, even the vet techs all agreed.

When at home, we always put on our comfy clothes, meaning Jake goes collarless. I called him #nakeyJakey a lot.

Jake passed on June 30, 2023. He was too young, but it was divinely timed for other losses I was facing in my life. Summer of 2023 will forever be known as the summer of grief. But I will also remember it as a forging season.
